Charity auctions

There are many ways to give back to your community. One way is to raise money for specific organizations that really need it. A very efficient and fun way to raise money is through charity auctions. Using valuable or unique items and a carefully planned party, you can raise money for your organization, a political candidate, or any worthy cause. Let us help you plan a charity auction today!

The first thing you need to do in order to set up a charity auction is to acquire the items to auction. The items you choose will depend on what kind of auction you are holding. For something less informal, consider having a local elementary school make crafts to auction. Getting kids involved is a great way to teach them about charity work and its rewards. If you are going for something more elegant and up-scale, you should look into having art from local artists donated. Or, if you happen to have access to celebrities, you might consider asking them for donations. They can donate clothing or other items or even create things to sell. Popular auctions in the past have included shoes decorated by celebrities or other art items created by stars.

Now that you have your items lined up, it is time to plan the auction party. The best charity auction parties are ones with themes. You might consider creating a theme around your auction items. For kid’s crafts, consider making it a school-themed night with appetizers served on lunch trays, dinner packaged in a paper bag, and fun school-themed decorations. For an elegant auction party, consider using a period theme, such as 17th century France or the roaring 1920’s. These are themes that you can really get creative with!

So you’ve sent out perfectly themed invitations, hired a caterer, and picked out lots of unique decorations, what’s left? Time to decide how you will auction off your items. You can choose between a silent auction and a live auction. Silent auctions are easier. You don’t need an auctioneer, and you can easily set the items up to the side throughout the entire dinner and party. On the other hand, a live auction can be a lot more fun. If this is your preferred auction method you will need to hire an auctioneer or get a friend or neighbor to play the part. Then you will need to set the items out during dinner and cocktails for guests to view, so that after dessert is served you can start the bidding!
